In die evangelies lees ons van drie mense wat Jesus uit die dood opgewek het. [Daar mag meer wees, want Jesus sê vir Johannes die Doper se volgelinge dat hulle vir Johannes moet vertel dat dooies word opgewek – Matteus 11:4 – 5). In die eerste drie evangelies lees ons van die dogtertjie van Jaïrus en die seun van die weduwee van Nain wat opgewek word.
